Tools Not Used
To protect the scalp, root base, and long-term health of the locs, Nice Locs does not use the following tools or methods under any circumstances:
Latch hooks
Sewing needles or straight needles
Three-prong or multi-prong needles
Safety pins
Rubber bands at the base of crochet services
Any tool or method with the potential to:
Rip hair from the scalp
Tear or weaken the root base
Cause uncontrolled snagging or traction
Requests to use excluded tools will result in service refusal or modification.
Maintenance Method Selection
Maintenance method (crochet, interlock, or a combination when appropriate) is determined by the stylist based on:
Loc size and stage
Hair type and density
Existing structure and root integrity
Client preferences may be discussed, but final method and tool selection is made to protect hair health.
Grid Structure & Sectioning Standards
Sisterlocks® grids and other branded grid systems are exclusive to their respective brands.
These proprietary grids are not used as the foundation of services at Nice Locs.Nice Locs utilizes a quadrant-based grid system designed for balance, longevity, and scalp health.
The quadrant system is structured as follows:
Nose to nape
Bottom of ear to bottom of ear
Temple to temple
These primary sections create 8 to 10 evenly divided working sections, which are then subdivided in a specific, intentional pattern to form each loc.
This grid method supports:
Even weight distribution
Consistent tension
Long-term loc stability
Scalp health across varying textures
Grid structure and loc size are determined based on hair qualification, not brand affiliation or trend preference.
Maintenance Timing Standards
Proper maintenance timing is critical to scalp health and loc longevity.
Micro Loc Maintenance:
Maintenance should be scheduled when new growth reaches 1 to 1.5 inches.Crochet Maintenance:
Maintenance should be scheduled when new growth reaches 1.5 to 2 inches.
Early Maintenance
Receiving maintenance too early can cause:
Excessive tension at the loc base
Scalp irritation
Weakening of the root
Increased risk of tension alopecia
Services requested earlier than recommended may be declined or rescheduled for safety reasons.
Delayed Maintenance
Waiting longer than the recommended timeframe may result in:
Separation at the loc base
Tangling between locs
Knotting or slipping
Compromised structure
In these cases, the service will be considered a repair or corrective service and will be re-quoted accordingly.
Late, Cancellation & No-Show Policy
A 15-minute grace period is provided.
Arrivals beyond 15 minutes may result in:
Service modification, or
Appointment cancellation at the stylist’s discretion.
Same-day cancellations or reschedules are considered late cancellations.
No-shows are subject to a fee.
Failure to resolve late or no-show fees may result in booking restrictions.

Sisterlocks® Brand Clarification & Microloc Standards
Sisterlocks® is a trademarked brand system, not a hair style and not a hair size.
While any qualified professional can maintain microlocs, receiving a branded Sisterlocks® service requires a stylist who pays to remain within that private network and follows its proprietary standards.
Nice Locs does not claim brand affiliation unless explicitly stated and provides services as Microloc Care, not branded services.
Why These Policies Exist
Crochet, Interlock, and Micro Loc Care services are precision-based, tool-dependent services with long-term impact on scalp health and loc longevity.
These policies exist to:
Prevent root trauma and tension alopecia
Maintain even weight distribution and structural integrity
Eliminate unsafe tools and practices
Set realistic expectations for maintenance timing
Protect long-term hair health over short-term trends
Healthy locs are built through correct tools, correct timing, and intentional technique—not force.
